Being the homeschool guidance counselor feels overwhelming. You need to plan classes, prepare records, coordinate tests, and guide the college and career process. But don't you feel like it's the HOME part of homeschooling that makes it the most challenging? You aren't just the guidance counselor, teacher, and facilitator, after all. You are also the parent and mentor, in charge of home and family care, working hard to provide character training and discipline. Plus the family wants dinner every night!
My job is to make your job easier.
Come to my free class, How to Be Your Child's Best Guidance Counselor, and learn why you are the perfect person to be your child's homeschool guidance counselor. I'll teach you strategies for success. Learn what a guidance counselor does, and find out your qualifications for this important job. You have the secret ingredient that public school counselors lack - you know and love your child! In this workshop, you will learn to educate with flexibility, plan classes, arrange tests, find a college, and guide the college application process. I'll explain what it takes to be perfectly adequate, but then I'll explain how to be the BEST guidance counselor.
Listen, the guidance counselor at a public school has a huge job helping hundreds of students. With only eight hours in a day, that leaves them with just minutes per student. They are responsible for the college and career plans of hundreds of kids they don't know. Our job as a homeschool guidance counselor is significantly easier. We are only responsible for our own children, and you know your child better than anyone. You are completely capable of offering the guidance they require through high school. All you need is a little more information, and that's where I come in!
I know sometimes moms get anxious - and teens, too, as Jen can attest!
"My son Ben graduated from eighth grade and said very seriously, 'I don't know if I'm ready for high school.' When I asked him what made him nervous or worried as he looked forward, his answer really surprised me. He said, "I'm worried about the transcripts - the scholarships - trying to get into college." So I told him to pile up all those logistical and organizational worries and hand the whole heavy, scary, overwhelming pile to me! I reassured him that I will take care of those things, and that I have lined up great support (you, Lee!) to walk alongside me and help me and our whole family be successful in the high school journey. He was so relieved! I NEVER imagined he would be anxious about those things! But it made sense once he said it. So thank you for easing his anxieties, too, and helping both he and I feel more confident heading into ninth grade! Your work blesses the whole family, not just the mom!" ~ Jen Goodwin, and Ben
I also know that the solution to becoming a strong homeschool guidance counselor is finding more information. Cherie took my class, and her daughter ended up with HUGE scholarships when she entered college:
Listening to your online workshops, reading the Coffee Break Books, and the transcript package with the bonuses that came with it, all helped me tremendously to try the best I could to help my daughter look for school money. Your books helped me to persevere even when I felt inadequate as a "guidance counselor."
Your products have helped me to keep good records, get through the application process, and hunt for scholarship money for my daughter. Throughout this process, my daughter has learned how to write her music experience resume, to compose countless essays about her goals, financial need, and extracurricular activities, to assemble together videos, and patiently pay attention to countless details of so many big, long scholarship applications. These are skills that she would have missed out on if she had everything handed to her by her college.
Thank you for your encouragement through your newsletters, books, and online workshop classes. Being the mom, the teacher, and the guidance counselor has been a daunting task. God has used you to help us to have the diligence to get through this process. My daughter added up the money that she qualifies for, and it is about $92K. We were praying for the Lord to guide us and allow her find favor with the scholarship committees if that was his will, and we are praising Him for the miracle that has happened for our daughter. You are part of this miracle! Thank you for all your hard work. Your ministry is a blessing to us! ~ Cherie in SC
