Homeschooling High School: 2012 SAT Study Guide Filled with Errors

What NOT to Buy!

The new SAT prep book has come out, and reviewers say it is "full of errors."  I love Princeton Review and recommend it often. However, now their NEW edition is finally published, and I find out it has major errors! Last year's edition will be "tried and true" so I suggest you use that edition.  They don't change much from year to year.  Get the one from 2011 or 2010 instead. Only the 2012 edition seems to be the problem.

Dear Lee,

Thank u so much for the info. I already bought Cracking the SAT 2012 edition. Are there errors only in Practice test 2012 edition? or is it the same with Cracking the SAT 2012 edition.

Check the reviews on Amazon, and see what other purchasers say. That's how I found out about these errors - from other parents that purchased the books.
Blessings,
Lee

Now, I would probably never realize there were mistakes in it, unless there is inconsistency between the answer and the detailed explanation. If wrong possibilities were given in the multiple choice section, I would just assume I didn't know how to do the problem.

We'll keep last year's for review! Thank you, Lee, for keeping us all current.

I was very disappointed in a SAT book I bought. It was HUGE and my osn started reading it. Then he asked if he was supposed to be nervous and stressed out about taking it. When I told him no, he asked "Then why is the first 1/2 of it on how to cope with taking the test?"

Really, I was looking for something that would just give him an idea of what he might be looking at.

Melanie,
The books that are called "Cracking the SAT" include a HUGE section on preparing for the test, and it can be overwhelming. The books that say "11 practice test" have a chapter on preparing for the test, but the bulk of the book is just tests and answer keys.
Blessings,
Lee

About us

Lee has three core beliefs about homeschooling: homeschooling provides the best possible learning environment; every child deserves a college-prep education whether or not they choose to go to college; and parents are capable of providing a superior education to their children. Lee does not judge your homeschool or evaluate your children. Instead, she comes alongside to help and encourage parents homeschooling high school.
