Let me put in a plug for volunteering at a home school convention. You'll usually have plenty of time before and/or after your shift, and if you ask early enough for your preferred work hours, you won't miss the speakers you want to hear.
That's such a good point, Jo. Volunteering is a terrific idea for those who might otherwise not be able to afford the entrance fee.
