Thank you for this message. I have been panicking over changing curriculum the whole time I have been homeschooling for 7 years. My son has learning issues and I have had a terrible time finding what clicks for his learning. I feel like we never get to complete a grade level because we are always starting and restarting. He doesn't do so well on testing each year so I am unsure how to always "catch him up." Any suggestions?

We've changed curriculum and methods several times over the years. We just enjoy change because it brings in new perspectives and re-energizes our homeschool - much like re-arranging the furniture makes you see the things you own in a new way.

I think we've been able to do this successfully because many years ago I made a list of competencies and topics that I felt were important for a well-rounded education, so as long as we are checking things off that list, we feel we are on track, even during those years when we were penny-pinching and used the library and internet for everything. I think it helps to have an overarching plan in place before you make significant changes.
