Yeah... Helloooo... Things have been horribly wrong for decades.
The only reason I wasn't terrified of setting foot in my alma mater (one of the three schools above) was because I knew I stood a good chance of fighting clear of one or more attackers. But not everyone studies martial arts. Can I even describe the terror I felt my first day of junior high, 1981, Littleton Colorado, Deer Creek Junior High? There had been a fatality shooting in 1981 - only a year or two before I was slated to go to that school one former student killed a current student. Yes, the junior high school not far from Columbine High School. Yes, the same Deer Creek Junior High where a former student came back as a grown man and shot students and a teacher in 2009 if I recall correctly. The murderer is only a little younger than I am.
Don't tell me about socialization. My decision to home school was sealed the day those kids died at Columbine, which if things had worked out differently, would have been my alma mater.
