Thank you so much for this timely encouragement. I have dyslexic teen and my husband has been ill for four years. It is getting to the point that my husband is finding it difficult to work full-time. I also have two younger children and one has learning disabilities. I'm not certain what the future holds for us but traditional school is no place for at least two of my children. Your newsletter this week has helped me boost my hope that we will find a way through our situation and even thrive as many others have before us. Thanks again.
Dear LJ,
I do have a blog post that may help:

I have quite a surprising number of Gold Care Club members who have faced these issues. You're right - her well-being is the most important thing. I'm here for you if you need help. Here is more information about the Gold Care Club:

We are trrying to do high school through our teen's serious illness. With hospital appointments and hospitalizations, and her general lack of wellness, we have had a real struggle. In the end we have decided that it does not matter if she is 20 when she graduates, as long as she is well. When you are on extremely strong pain medicine which makes you sleepy and the pain is still there, then concentration is not - because of this, we have slowed down to a crawl and only do what she really can - which is read now and then and do some writing. This has been ongoing for over nearly 2 years now, and we just feel that her well being is far more important than what other people say or what the world expects. For any one else facing illness, be kind to yourselves - it is a struggle and a nightmare, but what use is education without health - ease up and let them recover and then catch up - any advice or articles addressing this would be welcome.
