I love watching the Olympics, but I have to admit that I prefer the Canadian coverage. The US coverage seems to provide hours and hours and days and days of women's beach volleyball. I have nothing against women's beach volleyball, but I really wanted to see more of the Olympics than just that. When I turn on the Canadian coverage, I can see marathons, diving, gymnastics, and track. I love it!
How can these be so different when they are reporting on the same thing?
Think about that when you are working with your child on college application essays. Try to emulate the Canadian Olympics coverage on your student's essays. Each essay should be a different snapshot - one small viewpoint of your child. Each essay should be a different story of one thing - your sweet student! None of those essays will give a total picture - indeed, even all the essays together won't give a full picture! But each essay should be a unique snapshot, from a completely different perspective than the other. Keep each college application essay very unique!
