Accredited Online High School
Accredited Online High School It's that time of year again, when parents are looking for a great school for fall. Some parents are looking to online schools. Let me tell you what you do NOT need as you are searching for the perfect school. The difference between accredited and official transcripts

The difference between accredited and official transcripts
Have you ever wondered about the difference between an "accredited" and an "official" homeschool transcript? Sally discovered that her son could play on a private school baseball team - IF he entered that school's Independent Study program.  The school says he needed an accredited transcript from his 9th grade year to prove that he was in the 10th grade this year.  She was under the impression that his work was accredited basically by her.  The school...

Online Homeschool Taskmaster

Online Homeschool Taskmaster
Online classes are a TOOL you can use.  Don't allow them to become your taskmaster. If you are using an accredited program for an online class, then you are not the teacher in charge.  The accredited teacher will provide a grade you can't alter, and your child will receive an accredited transcript that must be submitted to colleges when you apply.  However, if you are using a non-accredited program, YOU are the teacher.  Whether it's a...

Accredited vs. Independent Homeschool

Accredited vs. Independent Homeschool
I was looking at an accredited homeschool program the other day, looking for "messages".  At first I was very impressed.  Then I read the details.  Let's do a little compare and contrast."Each curriculum package is individualized" - but they only use the textbook/workbook/school-at-home learning.  That's not a very high percentage of homeschoolers' chosen strategy."These outstanding curriculum choices coupled with the expertise of your advisor" - but the only expertise you truly need is the love for...

Help with Homeschool Transcripts!

Help with Homeschool Transcripts!
I work with homeschoolers all across the country (and missionaries and military in other countries as well!)  I love to help parents translate a homeschooling experience into words that colleges understand!  Just so you are aware, I'm not a certified teacher, or an accredited school, and, I don't know laws in every State.  I'm a homeschool mother who knows how to "talk like a college."  I'll be glad to help in a parent-to-parent mentoring role. Here is...

Homeschool Transcripts and Public Schools

Homeschool Transcripts and Public Schools
Two families, two students, same question, same answer.A mom called me for transcript help.  Her daughter homeschooled for two years, using Alpha Omega LifePacs and Weaver Curriculum for 9th and 10th grade.  Once her daughter got up to grade level, she wanted her to go back to public school.  She asked me how to get her homeschool transcript accepted by a public high school.Today a father called me for transcript help.  His daughter homeschooled for one...

  • Socialization for Homeschool Students

I was thinking about socialization because of a conversation I recently had with a non- homeschooler . It is unbelievable that this is still as big a topic as it is surrounding homeschooled children, considering that socialization affects all children, no matter what context they are schooled in.

Most parents appreciate a little help and encouragement on their homeschooling journey. My
