Setting the Records Straight receives a RAVE review!

Recently, my book, Setting the Records Straight, received a fantastic review from Lisa at Home School Enrichment Magazine!
"If you are a homeschooling parent who feels intimidated or overwhelmed by the thought of seeing your high schooler through the process of applying for college admissions, then you must read Lee Binz’s book, Setting the Records Straight. Ms. Binz shares her experience and expertise on how to write transcripts that reflect your student’s academic achievements and unique talents and strengths. Because she believes that writing transcripts is more of an art than a science, Ms. Binz gives examples of transcripts, written in many different formats, which will give you direction and flexibility to craft your own. And all along the way, she encourages you again and again to remember that you are the expert in your student’s education and thatyour evaluations, grades, and records are just as valuable and accurate as any “expert” opinion of your student’s work."

You are your child's best high school guidance counselor, and I hope that you feel encouraged to know that you can make the best homeschool high school transcript around! Thanks, Lisa, for sharing my mission of encouragement!

Check out the rest of the review as well as other helpful information in the March/April issue of Home School Enrichment Magazine!

  • Using [MOOCs] with Profoundly Gifted Students

Finding challenging material for profoundly  gifted children can be difficult, particularly when students are working at a college level. Consider carefully whether MOOCs  might be a good fit.  You can find more information about MOOCs in my post, Massive Open Online Courses [MOOCs] For Homeschool Students.

EdX works well with younger students who are profoundly gifted and need a challenge.

  • Make Laundry Fun Again

My Gold Care Club member Anne takes her laptop into the laundry room, and listens to my classes while folding laundry .

Anne said, "You make folding laundry so much more fun , now!"

Funny thing... I mentioned about Anne folding laundry in my online class the other night, and she was in the class with me! So they next day

  • Logic as a High School Elective

I have to confess, I was tempted to call this post "Logic for Dummies" but I was afraid you would know I'm not actually an intellectual. You see, I know that I could never possibly have taught logic to my logic-loving children without some help.

  • Homeschool Socialization - What You Need to Know

Socialization is not about a group of kids all the same age always being together. True socialization doesn't happen in a bubble and is about people of ALL ages interacting with one another. When kids are feeling alone, then getting out into the world can provide the socialization they are craving.

    How to encourage homeschool socialization.

About The HomeScholar

Lee has three core beliefs about homeschooling: homeschooling provides the best possible learning environment; every child deserves a college-prep education whether or not they choose to go to college, and parents are capable of providing a superior education to their children. Lee does not judge your homeschool or evaluate your children. Instead, she comes alongside to help and encourage parents homeschooling high school.
