Help! My Child Has No Interests!

Help! My Child Has No Interests!
"My child isn't interested in ANYTHING!!!" I hear parents complain that their child has no interests fairly often, especially from those with younger children. Hang in there! It's like children learning to ride a bicycle; they use training wheels for so long, that you think they'll never learn to ride on their own. Then suddenly - they're off! If you are in the "training wheels" stage, what can you do when your child doesn't seem interested in anything?...

You don't necessarily have to teach ANYTHING in high school, just make sure they learn. Self-teaching is a great skill to...

Returning to Public School as a Homeschooler

Returning to Public School as a Homeschooler
Are you thinking about sending your homeschooler to public school? There are some issues you need to consider before returning to public school. It's pretty easy for a homeschooler to enter college - they understand homeschooling and are used to seeing children from a variety of unaccredited schools.  The accept our homeschool grades and credits and classes, albeit with additional testing and course descriptions. It's much more difficult for a homeschooler to enter public high school.  They...

Have a Morning Meeting

Have a Morning Meeting
Oops. They were supposed to be independent and work on their homework. Instead they goofed off.  Tell me the truth, am I the only one this has happened to? Never underestimate a teenager’s ability to avoid work. Although sometimes these are intentional lapses, many times teens are simply focused on other things (like their hair, or their new shoes), and they forget trivial things like math assignments or research reports. Of course, it would be nice to...
